What Are You Looking At?
Since moving from sleepy Oxford to London two months ago, I have become quite a geek when it comes to observing developments in media on my commute into work each morning.
As well as trying to avoid eyecontact with various madmen and deciding what to have for breakfast, I have become accustomed to observing peoples media consumption and considering the influx of new formats that I encounter on my way to Holborn.
You can imagine my excitement this week when I realised that the XTP was installed in the station….
If you are a regular traveller through Piccadilly Circus, Bank, Liverpool Street, Euston or Bond Street you may have already seen the Cross-Track Projection which is currently being rolled-out across the London underground network. This is a high-definition digital moving image which gives advertisers massive standout and impact, and the ability to update their message in real time to a captive audience.
Although 10 years in the planning, now its here I like its premium nature and dominance of the platform - and the fact it keeps me occupied when the Victoria line is delayed again.
What keeps you occupied on the way to work?

Technically The Metro, though I dont know if “occupied” is quite the way to describe my enjoyment of its rehash of every other titles news.
Also very keen on observing tube user etiquette - the best is the etiquette of who takes the single empty seat on a busy tube when one person gets off at a station. I’m not saying chivalry is dead but I’ve seen young suited men looking hard at the floor to ignore the eyes of the woman they’re pushing in front of to take that seat.
Though why should men let women have the tube seat? Equality for all and all that jazz (unless they’re pregnant… which is even trickier if they’re on the pregnant / overweight borderline…there’s probably a whole blog in that alone)

I tend to read mags, the Metro is too depressing. Murders, plummeting house prices, global warming, we’re all going to die etc etc. Doesn’t set you up well for the day. Could there be room for a more lighthearted (not male orientated i.e. Shortlist) free read?

For the way home The Lite is my gospel… i love it - i get withdrawal symptons if i dont have one!!
Get your text off - the section where people text in is so funny - a waste of money - but very funny!!
And also on a tuesday they have Love texts - you know the ones - “you were on the 5:45pm train, i got on at clapham junction we smiled at each other, i should have got your number? fancy a drink?”
I know im sad!! Please tell me someone likes this dribble too??
